Mary Stuart Flowers

01. why local flowers?

Local, seasonal flowers are the most authentic way to ground your wedding in time and place. When you choose your wedding venue, no doubt you consider the surrounding environment, the underlying meaning, and perhaps even the family connection. By incorporating locally grown, seasonal flowers and foliage into your floral design, we create the foundation for lifelong memories connected to that time, that place, that season.

02. will you travel for our wedding?

Yes! I will travel anywhere. The first wedding I had the honor of designing was in The Netherlands. I helped the bride to plan and organize the wedding while connecting with growers in Holland to order the flowers. It was such an incredibly beautiful experience and it made me realize that destination weddings are definitely on my list of offerings.

03. are local flowers less expensive?

The short answer: no. Local flowers require the same amount of labor to grow, harvest and bring to market as their imported counterparts, but their value is far superior. They smell like flowers instead of chemicals. They are picked on Wednesday to be on your reception tables on Saturday. They travel in buckets of water in the back of a van for a couple of miles, not packed in boxes in the cargo hold of a 747. Less expensive? No. More valuable? Absolutely.

04. how do you plan for extreme weather?

Nature is certainly not predictable and is becoming even less so these days, and flowers are never guaranteed to bloom when we want them to. In the event that a specific flower we have been hoping for is unavailable on your wedding day, I will work with my trusted friends and partners at local flower farms to find a replacement that achieves the same visual impact. I will never replace a peony with a carnation.

05. do we need to have a Wedding planner?

Ideally, yes. My career on Wall Street as an International Roadshow Coordinator makes me uniquely qualified to handle both the logistics and the floral design of your wedding, but a wedding planner is so much more than a logistics coordinator. Working with a wedding planner allows me to focus solely on the floral design. This guarantees the most beautiful outcome possible; for you and for me.

06. how many weddings do you take each season?

The connection I make with my couples is what makes each wedding so unique. For that reason, I take no more than 6 weddings each season so that I can give each of my couples the attention they deserve. As a one-woman company, I am the only point of contact from beginning to end and it's me who will hand you your bouquet on your wedding day. The connection is everything.
